Rosy Anus Rainbow Trout

Trout will exhibit a prolapse of the anal connective tissue during times of drought stress. This is the result of a lower intestinal bacterial disease called “rosy anus”. In 2022, I was sent a few photos of rainbow trout with the anal prolapse caught in early June. However, it is entirely possible that the anal prolapse was the sequelae of late spawning. If you see this, please take time to let me know and if possible, snap a photo. Just another way to monitor our fishery.
