The Snake River is fishable all year around. It does not freeze. cabin rates are decreased, and often, you are the only person on the premises. Some of the biggest fish I have caught, 24-27 inches, have been during December – February. It takes time and patience with some understanding of where the trout locate during winter, but certainly, a whole lot of fun. You have to be careful to keep the trout in the water as they are subject to freeze injury once out of the river. Also, crampons can be a more reasonable thing to use, unless you want to take a canyon ride into the river. So, give it a try. If you have questions, by all means, contact me. Come March 1st, the Rainbow trout are beginning the spawn.
