Dear SFSC member:
For the past 6 years our club has served as the fly-fishing retreat site for Nebraska's Casting for Recovery breast cancer survivor retreat. SFSC will again host a group of ladies for an October 8th, 9th & 10th 2017 retreat to apply their learned fly-fishing skills on the last day of their retreat. (www.castingforrecovery.org)

Please would you  Volunteer as a River Guide for this October 10th on the Snake River?

Retreat : Sunday October 8th - Tuesday October 10th, 2017
Need 16 Volunteer River Guides for Tuesday  10/10/17 8:00am-1:30pm

Linda Lovgren, a SFSC member, has organized this national program in Nebraska and is preparing the 7th Annual CFR. The Casting for Recovery retreat  for recovering breast cancer survivors has selected 14 ladies, which we will again be hosted at the Prairie Club for group sessions, guest speakers and fly-fishing instruction Sunday - Tuesday.

On Tuesday morning October 10th the SFSC provides 16 club member guides to work one-on-one with an assigned Cast for Recovery cancer survivor. Please would you consider being a Volunteer River Guide (VRG) for one or both sessions?

The club has all the cabins reserved for this retreat  (Sunday October 8th through Tuesday October 10th) for Volunteer River Guide's.

This on-the-water fly-fishing experience is the culmination of these ladies individual efforts over the prior two days of seminars and introduction and education on fly-fishing. After the morning on the Snake River all the guides are invited to attend a hosted luncheon with all the CFR organization and guest participants at the Prairie Club.

Please will you be a volunteer and donate your time?

Please confirm your commitment to be a volunteer host/guide by responding to "John Groh" <grohjs@gmail.com> or by calling 402-660-5292.

After we fill our 16 guide slots more information will be shared via e-mail. Please volunteer, it is a rewarding event -- and fully tax deductible for you.

Thank you,

John Groh

Our history
Casting for Recovery was founded in 1996 in Manchester, Vermont, the unique brainchild of a breast cancer reconstructive Surgeon and a professional fly fisher (below, Dr. Benita Walton and Gwenn Bogart). CFR began as a local grassroots group with a big heart and an original national vision, and quickly received endorsements from medical and psychosocial experts for its innovative healing program model while at the same time provoking intense interest by national media.

Casting for Recovery was founded on the principles that the natural world is a healing force and that cancer survivors deserve one weekend - free of charge and free of the stresses from medical treatment, home, or workplace - to experience something new and challenging while enjoying beautiful surroundings within an intimate, safe, and nurturing structure.
